London is a bustling city and a top tourist destination. You could easily spend an entire week exploring the city alone. However, if you’d like to escape the hustle and bustle of the city on your travels, here are some amazing London day trips for explorers looking to see another part of England. 

We’ve included prices for each of the London day trips in our descriptions based on 2024 pricing for individual tickets. Prices may vary depending on the route you choose and times of day/year, but we hope this helps you decide what to fit in to your London itinerary. Purchasing combo passes or different types of transit passes may save money. Also, many of these London day trips are offered by tours companies directly out of London if you would like a more ready-made experience.

This is one of the shortest London day trip and also one that we love. Take a short half hour train ride out of London and to the charming town of Kew. Spend the day wandering about Kew Gardens after grabbing a takeout picnic from one of the local shops.

Brighton and the Beach

Brighton is a popular London day trip for Londoners themselves. This upbeat beach town is a relaxing getaway from the city. You can take a train to Brighton and wander along the beach for a day and take in the touristy shops. In warmer weather, enjoy a lovely dip in the ocean.

Stonehenge

Once there, wander around (wandering inside is an upgraded ticket) the stone circle and learn about the ancient stones.

Oxford
