Finding Small Town Charm: We think the best way to visit England is to stay in London and taking mini trips to surrounding small towns.
England is known for the rainy and cloudy weather. And this stereotype is true. So no matter when you visit, plan on packing layers and rain gear.
Other than the rain, England experiences relatively mild temperatures year round. You’ll find warmer temperatures in the summer months and cooler temperatures in the winter months. However, temperatures typically stay between 40-80 °F and average around 50 °F.
Summer is the height of the tourist season so expect crowds June-August. September is a great time to visit if you’d like warm weather but want to avoid crowds. April and May are also great times to visit as they tend to be drier months.

The currency used in England is the pound. You’ll find that credit and debit cards are widely accepted throughout the country. Visa and Mastercard are the most common US brands. Few other US brand credit cards are accepted. A majority of businesses only accept cards with a tap to pay or chip.
Cash is also widely used and ATMs can be found frequently.
The prices in England are expensive. This is one of the most expensive tourist destinations due to the strength of the British pound. Hotels average between $200-$300. Meal prices average from $20-$35 depending on type of restaurant. Prices are more expensive in London.
Getting Around:
England is an easy country to visit via public transportation. The system is well designed and efficient if you are visiting popular tourist destinations.
However, if you would prefer to visit some smaller towns, renting a car would be a good option.
With the well developed public transportation, flying into London-Heathrow is the best airport, as it tends to be the cheapest and easiest to travel to and from.
Safety:
England is a relatively safe place to travel. Petty crime like theft can occur, especially in popular tourist destinations so keep an eye on your belongings.
